Deanna Vander Weerd – Executive Director
With experience in both medium and large nonprofit organizations, Deanna has had the privilege of collaborating closely with dedicated RNs and mission‑driven teams. She holds an MPA from the University of Missouri with a specialization in Nonprofit and Public Management. Deanna’s career has been intentionally rooted in the nonprofit sector because she finds this work deeply meaningful and rewarding. As an experienced grant writer, Deanna has secured more than $750,000 in federal funding to support essential programs and services. Deanna remains committed to strengthening communities through compassionate leadership, strategic partnership, and a lifelong dedication to service.
Tracy Baumgartner – Operations Manager
My name is Tracy Baumgartner, and I am the Operations Manager for Caring Hearts and Hands of Columbia. Born and raised in Mid-Missouri, I have a strong connection to the community. I graduated from Columbia College and hold a license as a long-term care administrator. My background is in skilled nursing facilities, and I also have experience in assisted living. I worked as a dietary aide in a nursing home during high school and have always had a passion for caring for the elderly. When I am not at the house, you can usually find me at one of my grandchildren’s sporting events. My husband and I enjoy traveling and camping in our travel trailer, and will one day, when I retire, hit the road and travel full-time.
